Pickled Turnips Recipe

cooking time: 5 minutes

 

Ingredients

  • 227 grams turnips, peeled and sliced

  • 1 tablespoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon lard (or oil)

  • 1 tablespoon vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Method

 

1. Sprinkle turnips with salt and leave to stand' for 8-12 hours.

    (Do not become alarmed if they become discoloured. This will be rectified during cooking.)
2. Quickly fry in hot lard for 5 minutes.
3. Add vinegar, stir, remove from heat.
4. Sprinkle with sesame oil and serve, either hot as a vegetable, or cold as a salad.
