Beef and Noodles Milanese Recipe

 

cooking time: 45 minutes

 

Ingredients

  • 1 med. onion chopped

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp peanut oil

  • 450 g ground beef

  • 1 can mushrooms

  • 1 can tomato sauce

  • 1 can tomato paste

  • 1 bay leaf, crumbled

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp oregano

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tbsp salad

  • 1 kg wide noodles

  • 1 kg frozen chopped spinach, drained

  • 1/4 c. chopped parsley

  • 1 tsp basil

 

Method

 

1. Cook and drain noodles. Brown onion and garlic lightly in butter.

2. Add ground beef and cook until brown.

3. Stir in mushrooms and liquid, tomato sauce, tomato paste, bay leaf, 1 tsp salt and oregano.

4. Simmer 15 minutes. Beat 1 egg in medium size bowl and pour over the noodles, stirring well.

   Beat second egg in same bowl.

5. Add spinach, olive oil, parsley, 1 tbsp salt and basil. Mix well.

6. Pour half of the tomato mixture into shallow baking dish, 8-10 cup size.

7. Layer half of the noodles on the sauce.

8. Spread with spinach mixture. Repeat noodle layer and top with the rest of tomato mixture. Baked covered

9. Bake covered at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
