Pork with Celery and Bean Sprouts

Ingredients

  • 113 grams fresh bean sprouts

  • 3 tablespoons oil

  • 2 teaspoons salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

  • 450 grams pork (shoulder) diced

  • 2-3 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 450 grams celery, cut in chunks 1-inch long

  • 1 large onion, coarsely cut

  • 1 tablespoon treacle

  • 570 ml boiling stock

  • 3 tablespoons corn flour

  • 2 tablespoons cold water
     

Method

 

1. Pick over and wash the bean sprouts, then leave to drain.
2. Heat oil, salt and pepper together.
3. Add pork and brown very quickly, to seal in juices.
4. Cook, stirring all the time, for 7-8 minutes.
5. Add soy sauce, stir, add celery and onions and cook together for 3 minutes.
6. Mix treacle with stock, add to pan, stir, cover and simmer gently for 30 minutes.
7. Add bean sprouts, mix, cook for 3 minutes.
8. Blend corn flour with water, add to pan, cook, stirring until sauce thickens and serve
